Tuscan sunset.
I finally have some time to write at leisure. About an hour, really. Not bad. I've somehow ended up in one of the most exclusive hotels in Rome after crash-touring Tuscany. Tuscany is easily one of the most beautiful pieces of turf I've ever seen. Lovely rolling hills and beautiful vineyards... everywhere, the horizon stretching out and out to end in a soft mountain range. There is still some snow on the ground here and there, especially in Piazno, which was my last stop. Monticello, I think it was, where I dropped in to finish shopping had a stunning mountain side view of the Tuscan country side too, and some of what I've seen will hopefully linger with me for a long long time. It really makes me wish I could share this with the one I love, but I think there'll be time in years to come for that. I'm still chasing her tacky souvenir, surprisingly. The first one has a certain twisted elegance to it. The Italians seem a little more tasteful when it comes to take-aways. Too bad, I really love digging through drifts of cheesy junk. San'Germanio is definitely my favorite part of the little bit of Tuscany that I've seen. It's an amazingly well preserved medieval city, right down to the lovely narrow streets. Stopped in a delicate little cafe, and then toured around.. I'm still in shock. It's a living breathing city. And so beautiful. Florence felt a little Americanized, but this was unrepentantly Italian. I'm in love. Someday I'll move here and run a gallery with a cafe.
